Espadrilles are the new black

These gorgeous numbers are my new espadrilles.  What do you think?  I am in love, love, love with them!
Espadrilles are a style of shoe that has always piqued my interest and so when I came across this pair last week, not only was it love at first sight, but they were half price too!  Happy days.

Can I just tell you a little thing I have discovered since I started wearing my espadrilles, (which was immediately after purchase) not only are they oh so very comfortable, but curiously enough, they go with just about everything in my wardrobe.  What more could a girl ask for?  I do like to live in my Birkenstocks during the summer because I spend so much time outside, but now I can also mix it up with my espy's (as I have nick-named them - it's a very Australian thing to do to add a 'y' to the end of a word, like 'sunnies' (sunglasses), 'chewy' (gum), footy (football).  Did you know that espy's have been around since the 14th century?  I guess that's so because they are so comfy and wearable, right?

Of course espadrilles were originally worn by peasants, but these days you can find all the high-end designers flogging their own version of the espadrille.

Stella McCartney.

I don't know if these are designer espy's, but they sure are cute.

I love the embroidered Zebra on these.
Lauren Bacall's character wore espadrilles in the 1948 film 'Key Largo'.
Tory Burch.
Elizabeth and James.
Grace Kelly (with Cary Grant) wearing her espadrilles on the French Riviera.
The penultimate and ultimate espadrille by none other than Christian Louboutin of course.

I do believe that I am going to have to go back and buy another pair because I think that I will probably wear these out before the end of Summer.  I love how comfortable they are, and the cotton canvas upper and jute rope sole lets my feet breath, just so perfect.
